Ginger and its health benefits
Ginger contains gingerol, which has powerful medicinal properties
Ginger has a long history of use in various forms of traditional and alternative medicine.  It has been used to aid digestion, reduce nausea, and help fight the flu and colds, to name a few. Gingerol is the bioactive compound in ginger.  It is responsible for many of the medicinal properties of ginger. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. For example, it may help reduce oxidative stress, which is caused by an excessive amount of free radicals in the body.
Treating many forms of nausea, especially morning sickness
Ginger appears to be very effective against nausea. It may help relieve nausea and vomiting in people undergoing certain types of surgery.  Ginger may also help with nausea associated with chemotherapy, and may be more effective when it comes to nausea associated with pregnancy, such as morning sickness.
Helps lose weight
Ginger may play a role in weight loss, according to studies. A 2019 scientific review concluded that ginger supplementation significantly reduces body weight, waist-to-hip ratio, and hip ratio in people who are overweight or obese. A 2016 study found  Over 80 obese women found that ginger can also help reduce body mass index and blood insulin levels.  High levels of insulin in the blood are associated with obesity.
Helps with osteoporosis
Osteoarthritis is a common health problem, and it involves degeneration of the joints of the body, leading to symptoms such as joint pain and stiffness.  A scientific review found that people who used ginger to treat their arthritis experienced a significant reduction in pain and symptoms of osteoarthritis, especially the knee.
Ginger and diabetes
Ginger has been shown to lower blood sugar levels and improve heart disease risk factors in people with type 2 diabetes
Helps treat chronic indigestion
Chronic indigestion is characterized by recurrent pain and discomfort in the upper part of the stomach, and delayed gastric emptying is believed to be the main driver of indigestion.  Interestingly, ginger has been shown to speed up gastric emptying. In a study, people with functional dyspepsia, which is indigestion with no known cause, were given ginger capsules or a placebo. After an hour, they were all served soup. It took 12.3  One minute until the stomach emptied in the people who took ginger, while it took 16.1 minutes in those who received the placebo.
Significantly reduces menstrual pain
One of the traditional uses of ginger is to relieve pain, including menstrual pain.  In a 2009 study, 150 women took ginger or an anti-inflammatory drug for the first three days of their menstrual period. All three groups received four daily doses of ginger powder (250 mg), mefenamic acid (250 mg), or ibuprofen (400 mg).  Ginger succeeded in reducing pain as effectively as NSAIDs
Ginger and cholesterol
Scientific studies show that ginger can lead to a significant reduction in levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglyceride levels in the blood.
